Good times.

Hey guys!
I'm surprised that I'm posting something even though I just posted 5 days ago! I'm so proud of myself haha

These are some pictures I took on New Year's Eve. After leaving NYC on my birthday at night because Anna and I didn't have a place to sleep and were tired from carrying our heavy bags around, we came back early in the morning on Dec 31st. It was nice to see the Times Square less crowded and take some pictures. I absolutely love NYC. It's my favourite city so far! It's pretty late to tell you about my NYE but I'll do it anyways. In the beginning I planned to rent an apartment with some friends, go to Times Square to watch the Ball Drop and go to a club afterwards but my plans changed last-minute. My friend Sarah from Larchmont, NY, where I lived before I moved to Bryn Mawr, PA, had to work on NYE and I felt really sorry for her because she would've spent NYE all by herself waiting for the train to NYC, so I went to Larchmont to keep company with her. No one should be alone when the new year starts! Fortunately, her hostparents came home earlier and we could go to the city before midnight! It was crazy how many people were on the streets. Everyone was celebrating with everyone. It was awesome! Sarah and I bought those "Happy New Year"-crowns, so cute :) After midnight, we went to the club "Veranda". It's not one of the best clubs but being surrounded by your friends and enjoying the time with them is the most important thing :) To put it in a nutshell, it was a great night!

I can't believe that it's already mid-February! I only have seven months left to explore the land of opportunities?
I'm planning to visit a friend in Chicago, IL, go to Orlando, FL to see the Disney World and I really want to do a roadtrip on the west coast but I have to convince my best friends first :)) Besides, I want to see Washington DC, Atlantic City, Ocean City, Boston (again) and, of course, NYC a couple of times as well! That means I have to save lots and lots of money. But I can't wait to see all the great places! There are some good times heading my way :)

But sometimes I have to treat myself to some cute shoes! :p For example these ones

Boston, MA.

Hey there!
I already broke my one and only resolution of 2012. Well well, who would've thought that.. I shouldn't make any New Year's resolutions, I wouldn't keep it anyway.

This is a post about a part of my first vacation week. After Christmas, I went to Boston with Anna. Both of our hostparents announced our vacations pretty much last-minute but we made the best out of it and had a great time. So, after a six or seven hour bus ride we finally arrived in Boston, MA. We were really tired and still had to find the hostel but the receptionist of the hostel was unbelievable helpful and nice. He gave us all the directions from the bus terminal to the hostel and waited for us until 12AM even though the check-in hours were only until 11PM. So nice! On the next day, we woke up pretty early to see as much as possible from Boston! But we were short on money, so we tried to save every penny. And again, the employees were very helpful. He gave us a lot of tips where we could go without paying money and indeed, we didn't spend anything on sightseeing! We went to the Prudential Tower and sneaked into the restaurant to quickly take some pictures of the skyline, we saw the Harvard University (unfortunately, it was closed on that day, so we couldn't go inside.. :< ), we followed the Freedom Trail and saw the New England Holocaust Memorial. We didn't know that it was a Holocaust Memorial until I read this quote (last picture).

NOTHING BELONGS to us anymore.
They have taken away our clothes,
our shoes, even our hair.
If we speak, they will not listen to us.
And if they listen, they will not understand.
They have even taken away our names.
MY NUMBER IS 174517. I will carry the tattoo on my left arm until I die.
I don't know why but I was really moved by this Memorial. It is simple but yet so meaningful.  I couldn't take any good pictures of the whole Memorial because we went there in the evening and it was already dark. So I will try to describe how it looks like: It is an elaborate sidewalk with six tall, square, glass columns along the path that visitors can walk through. Each glass column represents one of the six major concentration camps (Auschwitz, Majdanek, Chelmno, Treblinka, Belzec & Sobibor). It can also stand for the six million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust or the six years of the mass exermination from 1939-1945. The floors are iron grates and steam is coming up from underneath to mist the glass, illustrating smoke stacks of the gas chambers.

After walking around at the Quincy Market where they had a loooot of delicious food, we went to the other market right next to it where they have two Urban Outfitters <3 We bought some clothes there, because a lot of things were on sale and it was an additional 50% off on all the clothes which were already on sale! AWESOME! It's obvious that we couldn't resist.. It's a shame that my camera died! I couldn't take any pictures when we arrived at the Quincy Market.. At the end of a day full of walking and exploring, we went to Chinatown to eat dinner. And we found a cute little restaurant where I had an awesome bubble tea! :D I'm very happy that I did this trip with Anna because we somehow have a lot in common besides the fact that she was the former aupair of my current hostfamily! I can't stop saying how thankful I am for meeting so many amazing people.

Well, that was my short but quite amazing trip to Boston! I definitely have to come back because I'm sure there's a lot more to see in Boston!

It might be a little bit too late to wish you a happy new year but I'll still do it! Happy New Year, may all your wishes come true! Lots of love, success, happiness and health <3

Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

So, I didn't post anything for a month again.. I will change that next year! At least one post every other week :) This would be my first New Year's resolution and since I've finally got a camera, I can also post pictures with a better quality!

As I can remember, there weren't a lot of things which happened during the last weeks that are worth mentioning.. My hostfamily is jewish, so we celebrated Hanukkah instead of Christmas. We celebrated on December 20th at the grandmother's house and ate a lot of russian food. Delicious!
I also went to NYC again in the beginning of December to meet my friends from the training school. We had a pretty good time together and it felt so good to see them after three months! I can't wait to meet them again :)
Well, I guess that's what happened during the last weeks.

So.. what's up next in Milly's exciting life in the USA?
I have my first vacation week from December 25th to January 2nd! Since my hostparents couldn't tell me earlier that I would have a week of vacation I couldn't plan anything fancy like going to Florida or the West Coast because the flight tickets were sooo expensive.. So I had to think about something else and this is what I will do:
Dec 25th and 26th - Philadelphia with a friend from NY
Dec 26th to 28th - Boston with a friend from Bryn Mawr who happens to be the former aupair of my hostfamily haha
Dec 28th to 29th - NYC! Since December 28th is my birthday I will go to Ariana Grande's performance (I don't care about her being a nickelodeon star. She's beautiful, talented and the cutest girl eveeer :D) and after that I will go clubbing, yehi! After my birthday I will go back to Bryn Mawr to get some new clothes and stuff for New Year's Eve in NYC!

I'm really looking forward to every little second of my vacation!

Along these lines I wanted to wish you delightful holidays. Be thankful for everything you have and enjoy this wonderful time with your beloved friends and family.

PS: This is my hostkid Emma. Sometimes she is giving me such a hard time but anyhow, my heart melts when I listen to her singing. She's a really talented girl in so many ways and it's amazing to see how she is getting better every day.

PPS: I dyed my hair red! I love my new hair color
